Spider eggs

@Manuela Photography: I believe they are golden silk orb weavers. Supposedly harmless but I don't care. The thought of them brings chills to my spine. I haven't seen them this year (YET!) but they typically are about 3 inches wide.

A couple of years ago, I took a full grown grasshopper and threw it at the spider's web. The spider immediately went to it, grabbed it for about ten seconds and spinned it into a sac in about two minutes flat. Nasty nasty nasty!!!

I'm in SE Texas (Houston and vincinity). I don't see tarantulas often. The most dangerous one I see almost weekly is the brown recluse.

@Lyndsey Le: No. The spider itself is about three inches wide. The egg is only about an inch wide but will carry thousands of these spiders.
